The Local Business Center provides the best, most efficient administrative and operational services to the faculty and staff clients in Jules F. Knapp Research Center and The Biological Sciences Learning Center (BSLC) and Pritzker Medical School.

We have identified and implemented policies and procedures that benefit all clients, in areas of procurement & reimbursement, hiring and personnel administration, grant & contract management, financial accounting and reporting, and computer support services.

Our primary goal emphasizes service and accountability. We employ a team-oriented approach to problem solving and job sharing. The Faculty Services Representatives' (FSR) workloads and areas of responsibility are interchangeable and similar, so that they can act as backups for each other, thereby benefiting all of the research clients served in the building.

The LBC staff of 12 manages all administrative activities for over 100 faculty, researchers, and lab staff in the J.F.Knapp Research Center. A team of 5 oversees building operations and provides the Knapp Research Center and BSLC with efficient and complete facility services, from shipping and receiving to maintenance and security. Building management includes classroom reservations, assistance with hi-tech presentation audio/video equipment, and event space planning, functions that are offered both to residents and nonresidents of the building.
